Welcome to Fr. Walker School
Experience the profound strength of a Catholic education where God is at the forefront of every lesson and every life. Fr. Walker School is dedicated to nurturing academic excellence and spiritual growth in a vibrant community in Maple Hill, Kansas.
Our Story
The roots of Father Walker School stretch back more than forty years to Traditional Catholic homeschooling families in the area who worked together to educate their children in the Faith. Guided by the principle that parents are the primary educators of their children, these families brought together their talents to form their children to become saints, cultivating the knowledge, habits, and virtues needed to serve God, the Church, and their community. That mission remains at the heart of our relationships, decisions, and daily life.
Over time, this tradition developed into formal schools at St. John Vianney Church, providing generations of students with a quality Catholic education and becoming a pillar of the community. When the school at St. John Vianney closed following the 2023–2024 school year, a group of parents recognized the continued need for Catholic education and established Father Walker School, carrying forward an educational tradition rooted in the community for more than four decades.
Today, Father Walker School leases the former Maple Hill Elementary School. After seventy years of service as a public school, the building was closed by USD 329 at the end of the 2022–2023 academic year. Father Walker School began using the facility at the start of the 2025–2026 academic year, giving this historic building a new purpose as a center of Catholic education.
Our Catholic hybrid model combines three days of on-campus instruction and community life with continued learning at home. This structure honors the primary role of parents in their children's education while providing students with the academic, spiritual, and social benefits of a strong Catholic school community.
Our mission
We are a small, mission-driven Catholic school dedicated to forming students, not only in academic excellence, but in virtue, community, and purpose. Our families are committed to cultivating a learning environment where each child is known, challenged, and inspired to grow.
The meaning behind our name
We chose our name Fr. Walker for our school because we want our school community to be inspired by the life, faith and priestly example of Fr. Kenneth John Walker, FSSP (1985-2014). As a school, we hope the name Fr. Walker will continually remind our students to live the same spirit of faith, courage, charity, perseverance and service.
Donations
As a private institution, we rely heavily on the generosity of donors to sustain our daily operations—everything from classroom materials and teacher compensation to keeping the lights on. Your support directly impacts the quality of education and care our students receive.
Beyond day-to-day needs, we are working toward a critical long-term goal: purchasing the building we currently rent. Owning our facility would provide long-term security for our school, allowing us to invest more confidently in future growth and stability.
Every donation—big or small—helps us get one step closer to that vision. Thank you for standing with us as we invest in the next generation of leaders, thinkers, and faithful Catholics.
Cultivating faith and knowledge
At Fr. Walker School, we believe that integrating faith with rigorous academics provides students with a holistic education that prepares them for success in all aspects of life.
